I discovered this Scarlatti's work through a recording by the Romanian pianist Dinu Lipatti during my studies in Geneva (Switzerland), where the pianist spent the last years of his life. I always passed his bronze portrait in the corridor on the way to my composition class. What I love about the Sonata K.380 is its birdsong-like lightness, clarity of resonance, simplicity and repetitive character without being excessive.
